Getting more interested in Pakistan

I figured it's time to get more interested/vocal about what's happening in Pakistan. I guess things like this happen as you grow older. I just wish it happened while I was still younger.

Here's in hope that those of you who are still younger will take interest now, instead of later.

Karachi heat is rising. I guess it will be another sizzling day. The music on my media player has also changed.

Seems like a lifetime since I've heard this song. Some songs get engraved in your memory. I can still hear it as vividly as I did probably 25 years ago. I love http://www.legalsounds.com. I can buy almost all the music I want, and real cheap... guilt free too.

This song by The Who had been haunting my mind for years. I've finally downloaded it. :-)

Round like a circle in a spiral like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending on beginning on an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that's turning running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes on its face
And the world is like an apple spinning silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Like a tunnel that you follow to a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving in a half-forgotten dream
Like the ripples... (more)

Having a horrible sleepless night. Abandoned the attempt to fall asleep. Sitting on my desk, looking out of the window I can look to the west, as the sun rises on the other side. A grey light appearing behind the palm trees.

I just realized I'm soon to be 43. Life has quite conveniently slipped me by. I don't know what dream have I been chasing?

I can't let the rest of the years slip through my fingers, like dust in the wind.

On my jukebox:

I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is... (more)

A hectic day in Multan, and now a flight back to Karachi with a stop over in Sukkur another city I haven't been to in a decade or more. Must come here soon.

Multan was an overwhelming experience. The Loose Ends Pakistan get together turned out amazingly. Almost 50 people showed up. 3 hated me and everything I said. I'm sure they had some reason. The rest were an amazing lot. I just hope we have managed to touch a few hearts and change a few lives. Pictures on the loose ends forum.

Met some amazing people. Anila and her family were as hospitable as any host could ever be, and more.... (more)

Just landed in Multan. Have come here after many years. Don't know why we don't travel within Pakistan. There is so much to discover and see.

Let's see what this historical city has become since I was her last, about 12 years ago.

The con of politics

It's amazing to see how very very sensible people like Hassan Salahuddin can also get sucked into the con of politics of Pakistan. He did talk to me about his inclination towards Imran Khan's Tehreek-e-Insaaf, some time ago, but I had hoped it would pass. But it didn't.

Oh well. Hassan was the last guy I wanted to lose to politics, but I guess even the mighty fall. However, there is hope. Knowing Tehreek-e-Insaaf's track record, Hassan will insha Allah be normal again... soon.

As I was writing this, I decided to look up the party's website. As expected, I got renewed hope in... (more)

Went to the zoo the yesterday and in very simple plain terms READ the foll:

"Trees need rain and rain needs tress " - it really is that simple! And if I may add on .. Once we and nature are in balance there shall be harmony and tranquility. Right now we re at a restaurant called samundar overlooking the sentosa beach (waiting for our aloogobi and sabzi biryani!!! Yumm). Kids playing , goras getting a tan and the sun at its shinniest ! But with all the plants the vegetation around the temp is lovely. Its warm - a certain warm that warms the heart and soul. With our busy city lives at times... (more)
