The con of politics

It's amazing to see how very very sensible people like Hassan Salahuddin can also get sucked into the con of politics of Pakistan.  He did talk to me about his inclination towards Imran Khan's Tehreek-e-Insaaf, some time ago, but I had hoped it would pass.  But it didn't.

Oh well.  Hassan was the last guy I wanted to lose to politics, but I guess even the mighty fall.  However, there is hope.  Knowing Tehreek-e-Insaaf's track record, Hassan will insha Allah be normal again... soon.

As I was writing this, I decided to look up the party's website.  As expected, I got renewed hope in Hassan's return to normalcy.  The "ideology" of the party is "As a nation we cannot progress as long as our economy depends on handouts from international lenders and donors."

No bull Sherlock.  Errrr.... but... mmmm... what's the plan?

The power to make fundamental changes covering basics like safety regulations, health care and education lie with politicians and the ruling party be they con men or not. I commend Imraan Khan for being the opportunist he is.. . ie using his past fame and influence to elicit aid to fund projects that will benefit the masses. Its boils down to basic economics, without financial aid and requisite skills you can’t achieve much, except for apathy and the elite unfortunately will never be sufficiently apathetic to want to bring about change when they really have nothing much to complain about.

Sorry Faisal..I'm thinking of joining Imran Khan's bandwagon as well..i think the grassroots approach can no longer yield desirable results for Pakistan..the one's who care, who r doing their bit, r now tired of being self-righteous in their individual sphere..it's time to change things from the top.

plus, a prayer for a huge helping of Divine Intervention (God, I hope we still qualify for Your Mercy).

Politics has banished Religion from public discourse but Religion still offers the best description of political reality.

Mankind has taken a wrong turn and appears doomed to annihilation. The political, cultural and economic elite of the West is either dupes or willing agents of a satanic conspiracy of cosmic proportions.

If we and our children are to suffer and die prematurely, at least we know the real reason. That is a privilege not granted to millions of our ancestors.

God and Satan made a wager for the soul of man. If God wins, man revels in the glory of his Divine Birthright. If Satan wins, man is destroyed. In a nutshell, this is the religious nature of politics.

We can instantly recapture an essential part of religion by incorporating the dictim, "Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You," in our lives. The essence of all true religion is to obey God (i.e. spiritual ideals like justice, truth and love) instead of personal desire, to be selfless instead of selfish. Like a snowflake, this is how disparate elements arrange themselves according to the Plan ( i.e. Love) and achieve Perfection.
